Pitru Paksha 2020 will begin on Tuesday, 1 September, and ends on Thursday, 17 September, this year. As per Hindu Panchang, Pitru Paksha which is also spelled as Pitri Paksha or Pitr Paksha is a 15 lunar days period when Hindus pay homage to their ancestors and perform Shraddha rituals.

The last day of Pitru Paksha is known as Sarvapitri Amavasya or Mahalaya Amavasya. Mahalaya Amavasya is the most significant day of Pitru Paksha.
